I was once caught for crimes by the church police. It was a tough case, as the bishop in charge had to pray all day and night in order to get God to point out where I was hiding with his massive divine finger. Still, it was a fair cop and I was read my sacraments in a timely and professional fashion when I was captured, and then sentenced to sing the hymn ‘Oh for a thousand tongues’ 100 times.
But maybe if the church police had sought the help of this pair of religious law enforcers, they might have caught me quicker, or even halted my great wafer robbery.
Here’s the international trailer for Deliver Us From Evil, which stars Eric Bana as a New York police officer who teams up with an unconventional priest Edgar Ramirez, a no-nonsense vicar who goes with his guts and exorcises demons. Sweet Buddha I hope he has an angry black Cardinal sergeant who yells at him for not following the book.
In “Deliver Us From Evil,” New York police officer Ralph Sarchie (Eric Bana), struggling with his own personal issues, begins investigating a series of disturbing and inexplicable crimes. He joins forces with an unconventional priest (Edgar Ramirez), schooled in the rituals of exorcism, to combat the frightening and demonic possessions that are terrorizing their city. Based upon the book, which details Sarchie’s bone-chilling real-life cases.
And here’s the green band trailer, which may be less energetic, but will still scare the pants off of you. Especially if you’re a parent.
The film also stars Olivia Munn, Joel McHale, and Sean Harris. Scott “Supernatural” Derrickson directs. Deliver us from evil will be going through the six stages of an exorcism on July 2.
