Highlander Movie

There haven’t been too many quickenings on the Highlander reboot as of late, with Ryan Reynolds mercifully departing and taking director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo with him. But you can’t keep a good immortal down, as the project is once again ramping up. Highlander has found a new director, or at least someone who will make his feature film debut with the tale of eternal swordsmen.

Deadline has reported that Snow White and the Huntsman visual effects supervisor Cedric Nicolas-Troyan will helm the remake. He’ll be basing his film off of the script from Iron Man scribes Art Macum and Matt Holloway, which in turn stays close to the original 1986 film. For those of you out of the loop, that’s the film where the last of the immortals descend on New York for the gathering, in order to see who will survive to claim the prize and be the last of their kind.

I’m still not convinced that we actually need a remake of Highlander. But if it has to be done, at least let it be somewhat decent. And by the sounds of things, at least Troyan is a die-hard fan of the franchise.
