Sometime back in 2009, “jumping the shark” got upgraded from a figure of speech to a film genre, and now we find ourselves in a world where movies like Sharktopus and Sharknado don’t just exist, but actually get watched by millions of people. The movie that kicked off all these good-bad shark movies was of course mockbuster studio The Asylum’s Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus, and now four years later, it’s finally getting a sequel. With a robot shark!!
A new mega shark emerges to terrorize the seas, but the U.S. government comes prepared with a giant mechanical shark to combat the threat.
Damn, Teal’c! You used to be saving galaxies and kicking Goa’uld booty with the Stargate SG1 crew back in the day, and now you’re fighting badly animated flying sharks. What happened, man? What happened?
Mega Shark vs Mecha Shark stars Christopher Judge, Elisabeth Röhm, Steve Hanks and also sees Debbie Gibson reprising her role as Emma MacNeil from the first film. The film will be hitting Blu Ray and DVD on January 28, 2014.
