I’m sure we’ve all been there before: Wanting to do some violence to James Franco for whatever reason. The difference between us and rapidly rising French actor Omar Sy in Good People, a new thriller from screenwriter Kelly Masterson (Snowpiercer, Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead), is that he has 320 000 reasons.

After starring in the record breaking, critical darling French dramedy, The Intouchables, Sy’s name started popping up in one big film after another – he plays Bishop in X-Men: Days of Future Past – but in between all the big Hollywood blockbusters, he’s still making smaller flicks like Good People, the first trailer for which has just been released.

Young American couple Tom and Anna Reed (James Franco and Kate Hudson) fall into severe debt while renovating Anna’s family home in London. As the couple faces the loss of their dream to have a house and start a family, they discover that the tenant in the apartment below them has been murdered and he left behind a stash of cash—£320,000 worth. Though initially hesitant, Tom and Anna decide that the plan is simple: all they have to do is quietly take the money and use only what’s necessary to get them out of debt. But when they start spending the money and can’t seem to stop, they find themselves the target of a deadly adversary and that’s when very bad things start happening to good people.

Good People also stars Kate Hudson and Tom Wilkinson and will be receiving a limited released on July 25, 2014.
