Ever since Britain lost the war for independence against the United States, they’ve struck back in a dastardly way at our Yank pals across the world. Namely, by creating television so good, that the American adaptations bomb spectacularly across the pond. You can see pretty much every single UK sitcom for proof of this.

But sometimes, the US of A gets it right. House of Cards is the prime example here. Free from the usual model of television production that plagues that entertainment landscape, the Netflix adaptation of the cult UK series has done spectacularly well. And it returns for a second season this weekend.

Frank’s rapid ascension to the heights of power means big changes for both him and Claire, but his sudden rise creates powerful enemies and the increasing chance that his dark secrets will be exposed.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: If you have a good net connection and aren’t too worried about losing out on SPERTS, then Netflix is the way to go. It’s cheaper than DSTV, and far more entertaining. And it has a ton less repeats on it, I’ll say that.

Season 2 kicks off this weekend, and once again stars Kevin Spacey as the devious and ambitious Senator Vice President Frank Underwood.

  1. I am too much of a sports nut to let my DSTV go…. If I could have Netflix and get Super Sport some other way then maybe!!!

But House of Cards is brilliant!! His character is a mastermind and I like it!!
