As far as movie concepts go, Snowpiercer is pretty much far out there man. The idea of the planet receiving a big chill and undergoing a new ice age sans Ray Romano and annoying sloth isn’t anything new, but keeping humanity alive on a super-train that never, ever stops? That’s a pretty novel take on the chilly Cape Town cold apocalypse.
It’s also the English language debut for director Bong Joon-Ho, and so far, it’s looking like it might be a special film, if not for the story then for the original design at least. Which you can marvel at in the next set of fresh photos.
Bleeding Cool got their hands on these photos, which show off the shanty town look of the train ride to nowhere. I’ve got to say, that I’m loving the design of this film, and it’s starting to ping high on my radar.
Snowpiercer stars Chris Evans, John Hurt, Tilda Swinton,Jamie Bell, Alison Pill, Ed Harris, Ewen Bremner, Octavia Spencer, Kang-ho Song, and Ko Asung. It’ll be chugging into cinema stations in August.
