A week later and Ridley Scott’s Prometheus is easily still the most talked about thing in the moviesphere. Whether you love it or hate, you can’t deny that it certainly has people’s attention, which is why any snippets of new info – even post-release – are still being gobbled up voraciously.

Especially when those snippets are like these new behind the scenes images, which give us not only a glimpse at some of the effects magic in bringing the film’s extraterrestrials to life, but also a look at one particularly elderly ET, who had previously been left on the cutting room floor.

Some SPOILERS to follow.

The inclusion of the Elder Engineer in that opening scene certainly throws a spanner into the works when it comes to the theory of the first Engineer being a rebel. That certainly looks like it could be some sort of ceremony going on. For clarification, we’ll probably have to to wait for the Blu Ray release as I’d be guessing that this scene would be among the extra 30 minutes of footage reported to be included on the home video release.

Here are the rest of the behind the scene images.

I feel like less of geek because the only time I’ve actually spoken about Prometheus was to tell my wife that I don’t really know what it’s all about, and the only time I’ve heard anything about it is from this site. I fear my geekiness is suffering.

I was o frustrated with the lack of answers that Ridley allowed the audience, especially in terms of the engineers. Although, I absolutely loved the movie, I left feeling somewhat confused and cheated. Was the prologue about a rebellious engineer? I did not get that.

You should check out my take on the movie. It’s humorous and praises Fassbender to a new level.
