Last week I posted up a list of the 1o Best Video Game Movies – a category that is actually pretty difficult to fill out based on the fact that watching most video game movie adaptations are like getting a root canal, only not as fun. I am however hopeful that we may soon be getting another addition to that elite club in the form of Hitman: Agent 47 (which is actually FOX’s second attempt at this property after 2007’s failed Hitman with Timothy Oliphant).

Now I can clearly hear your “WHAAAT?!” from all the way over here, so let me explain: While I really don’t expect any great acting (no offense Rupert Friend, as you were good in Homeland), storytelling or even a plot that isn’t more riddled with holes than a block of Swiss cheese from Agent 47, the film appears to possess one hell of a compelling offering of ridiculous, over the top, balls-to-the-wall “Screw your laws of physics!” action that I just cannot ignore. This reckless and fun-looking abandonment of logic and reality is showcased superbly in this final trailer for the film which features such ludicrous highlights like “subdermal titanium body armour” and doesn’t blink once in its delivery. Plus, it’s hard to deny the appeal of Zachary Quinto as a straight-up bad guy!

Check it out below.

HITMAN: AGENT 47 centers on an elite assassin who was genetically engineered from conception to be the perfect killing machine, and is known only by the last two digits on the barcode tattooed on the back of his neck. He is the culmination of decades of research – and forty-six earlier Agent clones — endowing him with unprecedented strength, speed, stamina and intelligence. His latest target is a mega-corporation that plans to unlock the secret of Agent 47’s past to create an army of killers whose powers surpass even his own. Teaming up with a young woman who may hold the secret to overcoming their powerful and clandestine enemies, 47 confronts stunning revelations about his own origins and squares off in an epic battle with his deadliest foe.

Hitman: Agent 47 also stars Hannah Ware,Ciarán Hinds, Thomas Kretschmann, and Angelababy. It is scheduled for release internationally later in the month, but we’ll get it on 4 September 2015.

  1. I saw the trailer this weekend. As an action movie, it looks like it could be a ton of fun to watch and I’m actually looking forward to checking it out (sorta in the vein of John Wick – mindless action-oriented fun!). But, as a Hitman movie, I think it’ll probably suck. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing…

They should have made it similar to how the Bourne movies were made. Stealthy, but had brilliant realistic action. This looks good as an action movie, but id still prefer it if they made it in the lines of the bourne movies.

That would’ve worked really well (didn’t even think of it in that vein). Really cool idea. Now that I’d pay to go see, no questions asked.

Yup id definitely pay to see that as well. Hitman Agent 47 just seems perfect for that sort of movie, but I guess they looking at getting a broader audience to rake in more cash.

As an action movie it looks awesome. As a stealth movie. Nope. They really should try and spin it more for the mysterious stealthy style like the Jason Bourne movies. I think it would have also work brilliantly.
