There is a scene in this new, final trailer for next month’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes where we see an angry, genetically modified ape storm a militia emplacement by dual-wielding assault rifles while riding a horse. That image alone would have sold me on this movie, but like the world’s most post-apocalyptic infomercial, WAIT! THERE’S MORE!

We get a better glimpse at the film’s story, how lead ape Caesar is torn between loyalty to his fellow simians and his quest for peace, and also how it all goes so terribly wrong. Besides for these and other story beats, there’s also a good look at all those stupendous visual effects crafted by WETA Digital, we get to hear the Toby Kebbel portrayed ape, Koba, speak for the first time, and then as bonus, you also get a shouty Gary Oldman.

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes stars Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Enrique Murciano, Kirk Acevedo and Judy Greer. It is scheduled for release on July 11, 2014.

And don’t forget to check out that recently released vid that show just what happened in the years between the end of Rise of the Planet of the Apes and this movie.
