I’ve never really understood absolute addiction, where you shake wanting something more, that is until I started watching HBO’s Game of Thrones. Visually stunning, violent, overtly sexual and with a story so complex 90% of the original characters in the book had to be removed for the general population of Earth to understand – I was hooked. And damn those cliff hangers! What about that wedding, them dragons, or that ill-fated John ‘I’m lying in the’ Snow?

Yes, last season’s cliffhanger ruffled quite a few feathers, and not just the black ones John was sporting. Is he alive? Well Kit Harrington was seen on the sets of the new season, maybe it was but a flesh wound?! Mmm, I am not so sure. He did reply to questions with ‘I was on set to play dead, my best work’ or something of the sort and if this new trailer for season 6 is anything to go by that may be true.

Okay, I’ll stop yabbing. Here’s the Red Band trailer of season 6 to blow your minds and make waiting till 24 April seem like an eternity:

Holy hell that is intense! Was that Bran Stark standing in front of a White Walker?! BEHIND YOU! Was that Cersei being defiant with “I choose violence” and a shot of something that looks like the Mountain?! Was that the beautiful Melisandre getting her kit off again, I mean saying “The great victory I saw in the flames, all of it was a lie.” Was that the best character they will no doubt kill to upset me Tyrion muttering “You’re in the great game now, and the great game is terrifying.” All of this set to an eerie version of Chris Isaak’s Wicked Game, I can’t take any more! Give me Downton Abbey!

I think we are in for a serious treat with this new season and the only thing that makes me sad is that I have to watch them weekly to avoid spoilers instead of binge watching (something Netflix would offer!)

Season 6 kicks (or hacks) off 24 April.
