We’ve had a look at Hardcore a while back already, but that was really just a proof of concept trailer for the awesome-looking blend of action movie and first-person shooter video game. But now the film is finally making its theatrical debut at the Toronto International Film Festival shortly, and thus have now released an “official” trailer to mark the occasion. And it still looks absolutely incredible!

You don’t get to see much of Sharlto Copley’s mysterious Jimmy in this trailer, but this new preview packs in the story details so we finally have some kind of reference point as to why all this insane action is going on. And it is indeed insane, with bloody fist fights, telekinetic villains, crazy shootouts and several jaw dropping high-flying (and fast-falling) action beats that should be incredible to see on the big screen!

Check out the first-person carnage below along with a new official synopsis:

You remember nothing. Mainly because you’ve just been brought back from the dead by your wife. She tells you that your name is Henry and congratulations, you’re now a cyborg.

Five minutes later, your wife has been kidnapped and you should probably go get her back. Who’s got her? His name’s Akan (Danila Kozlovsky), he’s just a psychotic megalomaniac with telekinetic powers, and a never-ending army of mercenaries. You’re also in an unfamiliar city of Moscow, Russia and everyone wants you dead. Everyone, except for a mysterious, British fellow called Jimmy (Sharlto Copley). He might be on your side. Good luck Henry. You’re very much likely to need it.

Oh, did I tell you that your battery is quickly running out?

Hardcore is written and directed by Ilya Naishuller and produced by Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Night Watch). It also stars Danila Kozlovsky (Vampire Academy), Haley Bennett (The Equalizer), Andrey Dementiev, Dasha Charusa and Sveta Ustinova.
