For those of you currently breaking out in a cold sweat at the thought of watching something starring Shia LaBeouf that’s also NSFW, I offer solace: No, he does not show you his penis in this trailer. That was apparently an one time thing. Well, maybe two times if Lars Von Trier’s Nymphomaniac has anything to say about it.
The point is, this new Red Band trailer for Charlie Countryman is LaBeouf Beef free. What it does have though is plenty of drugs, sex, nudity, violence, gingers and some really grisly torture methods.
When his late mother appears in a vision and tells him to go to Bucharest, Charlie immediately boards a plane across the Atlantic. But when he meets a fellow passenger, Charlie finds himself with another promise to fulfill. Charlie does so and falls head over heels in love with Gabi, a beautiful musician. However, a vicious gangster has already laid claim to Gabi, and has no intention of letting her go. Determined to protect her, Charlie enters into the hallucinatory, Romanian underworld filled with violence and, strangely enough, love.
As can be attested by all the testimonials in the trailer, Charlie Countryman has been picking up some remarkably good praise, with many lauding debut director Fredrik Bond’s hallucinogenic visuals as well as LaBeouf’s performance. And getting acting cred when you’re performing opposite Mads Mikkelsen is no easy task.
Charlie Countryman will be hitting limited theatres on November 15, 2013.
