Despite me having absorbed knowledge of its existence through some kind of trans-Atlantic, pop cultural osmosis, I have never seen a single minute of The Rocky & Bullwinkle Show, the 1960’s American cartoon. Apparently there was a segment in there called “Peabody’s Improbable History”, and that’s now getting it’s own animated feature film, because why not? But hey, it’s got the voice talents of Modern Family’s Ty Burrell as “the most accomplished dog in the world”, and my Phil Dunphy bromance means I’ll watch just about anything with him in it.

Mr. Peabody, the most accomplished dog in the world, and his mischievous boy Sherman, use their time machine – The Wabac – to go on the most outrageous adventures known to man or dog. But when Sherman takes The Wabac out for a joyride to impress his friend Penny, they accidently rip a hole in the universe, wreaking havoc on the most important events in world history. Before they forever alter the past, present and future, Mr. Peabody must come to their rescue, ultimately facing the most daunting challenge of any era: figuring out how to be a parent. Together, the time traveling trio will make their mark on history

I highly doubt that this is going to be setting the box office alight, but for it’s intended audience of a younger kids, it looks like you could do much worse. Plus, it actually has a very roster of voice talent in Ty Burrell, Max Charles, Ariel Winter, Stephen Colbert, Leslie Mann, Patrick Warburton, Stanley Tucci, Allison Janney, Mel Brooks, Lake Bell, Zach Callison and Dennis Haysbert.

Mr Peabody and Sherman will be time-hopping into cinemas on March 7, 2014.
