What a time to be alive in this new trailer for Anna and the Apocalypse

The zombie genre might be completely over-played and mostly generic, but sometimes the addition of zombies can make an otherwise dull story see so much more palatable. Take Christmas movies and musicals for instance as two genres which are enough to fill me with dread by the dullness of it all. Throw in zombies though and all of a sudden, they seem so much more exciting and full of … cheer.

Which is why I’m grateful that filmmaker John McPhail has finally decided to fix these two genres by throwing is a little zombie magic to save the day. Anna and the Apocalypse sees Anna (played by Ella Hunt) have her Christmas celebrations interrupted when a horde of zombies decide to take over instead. However, this time instead of just fending off zombies with more violence and blood, they get to sing and dance along through it all as well. Sounds ridiculously crazy to you? Just check out this trailer for the film and judge for yourself:

I certainly had a lot of fun watching that which I think is exactly what this movie is supposed to be about. Instead of sticking to the usual genre tropes, it looks to have a lot of fun instead, at the expense of zombies and its bizarre genre mashing only makes the fun stand out even further.

Anna and the Apocalypse also stars Malcom Cumming, Ben Wiggins, Sarah Swire, Paul Kaye, Christopher Leveaux, Marli Siu, and Mark Benton and could either turn out to be completely awful, or another zombie classic in the vein of Shaun of the Dead. Either way, you’re likely to have fun in the process.

There is no local release date for Anna and the Apocalypse just yet, but if there was ever a movie perfect for Christmas viewing, it would be this one.

I mean, you can’t have Justin Bieber without Zombies… Who else would be his fans?
