Tony Jaa and Simon Yam kick ass in the trailer for KILL ZONE 2!

My love affair with people punching and kicking each other in violently creative ways is well documented on this site. And if you love kung fu movies as much as I do, then chances you also know SPLNo, that’s not a new soccer league, but rather the acronym for Sha Po Lang, the badass 2005 Hong Kong action film directed by Wilson Yip and starring Donnie Yen, Simon Lam and Sammo Hung. At least that’s the name it was known as in the East, whereas internationally it got dubbed Kill Zone (not to be confused with the Playstation Killzone). And now that film is getting a sequel. Sort of. Kinda.

Kill Zone 2 is a spiritual successor, if you will, as it doesn’t follow on from the story of the first film nor does it star the same character. Well, in a fashion, as it once again stars Simon Yam as a character named Chan Kwok-Wah, whereas in Kill Zone he played a character named Chan Kwok-chung. Okay then.

More importantly though, Kill Zone 2 also stars the incredible Tony Jaa (Ong Bak, The Protector), and together the duo are laying some serious smack down. And really I don’t expect much than that, something the producers must be fully aware of seeing as this first trailer for the movie literally contains only three short lines of dialogue and a massively long line of people having the bejeezus kicked out of them.

Check it out below.

Kill Zone 2 releases in a limited fashion in the US on May 13. No word on further release dates.
