Look at this rock, see how rocky it is? We have to go to Florence!

Robert Langdon is back! Inferno, based on the fourth novel in Dan Brown’s history-mangling conspiracy thriller series and thankfully skipping the initially-planned third and god-awful ‘The Last Symbol’, will see Tom Hanks reprise his role as the world-renowned symbologist (not a real word) who’s spent years researching and lecturing on symbology symbolism – but only able to understand it when someone tries to kill him.

The official plot synopsis is as follows:

When Langdon wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia, he teams up with Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones), a doctor he hopes will help him recover his memories. Together, they race across Europe and against the clock to stop a madman from unleashing a global virus that would wipe out half of the world’s population.

Like The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons before it, Inferno looks beautifully shot and will take everyone on a whirlwind tour of art galleries and scenic locations as Langdon unravels the clues contained in Dante’s Inferno. The rest will depend on your tolerance for Dan Brown’s convoluted nonsensical plots which appear to be in full force yet again.

As you can tell, I’m not a fan – but what do you think?

Inferno is due for release in the US on 28 October. Directed by Ron Howard, with the screenplay by David Koepp, it stars Tom Hanks, Felicity Jones, Irrfan Khan, Omar Sy, Ben Foster and Sidse Babette Knudsen.

"Best-selling" because it's the only book they could buy at the airport

  1. I just noticed: What did they do to Tom Hanks’ face in that poster? He looks 30 years younger than he does in the trailer.
