Z: The Beginning of Everything

Nothing quite epitomizes the age of excess and glamour like the Jazz Age of the early 1920s in the US. Think The Great Gatsby and you’ll know what I’m talking about. And in fact, this series, titled Z: The Beginning of Everything looks at the person behind that legendary novel, F. Scott Fitzgerald and the relationship with his wife Zelda, who was not only the influence, but often the literal source of the words in his legendary novel.

Starring Christina Ricci as Zelda and David Hoflin (American Crime) as the Gatsby author, the show follows their tumultuous relationship and lifestyles and how it often mimicked what we saw in the Gatsby story itself. Showing once again that the truth can often be just as strange as fiction.

The series is being produced by Amazon, who have just dropped the first trailer giving us a glimpse at what we can expect in this series:

The pilot episode has actually already debuted on Amazon back on November 4, 2015. Amazon put the show to the audience vote and it was received quite positively. So, they’ve gone on and completed this series which is looking like it will be quite a compelling. Not only does the production and costume design really bring the look and feel of the era to life, but the performance of the leads in particular look likely to drive this series and make it one worth watching.

And while fans of that pilot episode may have had to wait a long time for the rest of the series to be made, the good news is that it will be released in its entirety on January 27, so they can binge watch the rest straight away and not need to wait further to see how it all plays out.

Alongside Ricci and Hoflin, Z: The Beginning of Everything also stars David Strathairn, Corey Cott, Jordan Dean, Jamie Anne Allman, Natalie Knepp, Christina Bennett Lind and Holly Curran.

Thought “What a trashy name for a Zombie flick”

Even that would have been better than this. 🙂
