Batman vs Robin

WB Animation’s comic book movies are usually great stuff. Tight animation, fantastic fight scenes and plenty of fan service. But 2014’s Son Of Batman may just be one of the worst films that has ever come out of the animation stable. DC and WB have a lot to make up for after that train wreck of a movie. And adding some of the best villains to appear in Batman comics over the last couple of years, may just be a start in the right direction.

The 23rd DC Universe Original Movie is inspired by the graphic novel Batman: The Court of Owls.

Still, the benchmark for Batman movies is rather low, after Son Of Batman, so here’s hoping that Batman Vs. Robin does some justice to the legendary New 52 storylines, Court Of Owls and Night Of Owls. It’s a pair of fantastic tales from writer Scott Snyder and artist Greg Capullo, that introduced readers to a secret underground Gotham society that had been pulling the strings behind the foundation and future of that city, for many a year. It’s kind of like Eyes Wide Shut, but with less tasteful nudity and more killer assassins called Talons who were pretty much immortal zombie super-soldiers.

Which reminds me, I need to approach DC with my Batman comic book idea, Owls Wide Shut. Batman Vs. Robin is out later this year. It stars plenty of great voices as well.
