Viggo Mortensen is twice as badass in Espanol!

Viggo Mortensen is clearly a man of many talents. He’s fought Russian mobsters while butt naked, survived the end of the world and even led the armies of Middle Earth against the Dark Lord’s forces. And yet, it may still come as a surprise to many to find that the Danish-American actor is also a fluent speaker of Spanish.

He will be putting that particular skill to use in Ana Piterbarg’s thriller Todos Tenemos un Plan (or Everyone Has a Plan), when he faces off against the only man badass enough to stand a fair chance against him: Himself.

If you’re like me then all your conversational Espanol was gleaned from Manuel in Fawlty Towers and all you can actually say in Spanish is that you cannot in fact say anything in Spanish, then you may have had some difficulty in following this trailer. Luckily for you though, IndieWire found this handy plot synopsis which should make what you’ve seen make a whole lot more sense.

Mortensen plays Augustin, a disillusioned man living in Buenos Aires. Upon the death of his identical twin brother Pedro, Augustin sees the perfect chance to start over. He assumes his dead brother’s identity, and goes to live in the Tigre Delta region of Argentina where the brothers spent their childhood. But Augustin has no idea of Pedro’s past involvement in the criminal underworld, and finds himself inheriting a dangerous and corrupt life that he thought would bring him fulfillment.

So basically like a late 90’s Jean Claude Van Damme movie only with less kicking and more, you know, talent? Excellent!

Unfortunately at this time there is no word yet on when the film will get an international release yet.
