We have yet to even see a single scene of Vin Diesel as the immortal hunter of witches – Kaulder in this years upcoming feature – The Last Witch Hunter and there is already talk of a sequel going around. Talking to fans at a panel for The Last Witch Hunter this past weekend at New York Comic-Con, Diesel mentioned that the studio executives are already asking for another installment for the movie.

I was doing a scene with Michael Caine and we were halfway through filming… and all the studio execs were behind the monitor all day. Then they came to my trailer and said, ‘We want to start the sequel.

There is already an impressive cast in this movie in the previously mentioned Michael Caine, Rose Leslie (Game of Thrones), and Elijah Wood (Lord of the Rings). In the film, Leslie plays a female witch named Cloe who Diesels’ witch hunter Kaulder is forced to work with, and elaborating further on how a sequel could be developed Diesel goes on to explain that the relationship between these two usual enemies holds the key:

The relationship between Chloe and Kaulder becomes so significant it changes the relationship between Kaulder and the Axe and Cross.

I will say there’s a great line in the movie from Chloe — a very pivotal line — that there are much worse things in this movie, lurking in the shadows.

If the recent trailer is anything to go by then The Last Witch Hunter could be a massive hit and one can certainly understand the studio wanting to capitalize on what could be a very profitable franchise. Vin Diesel is already attached to the hugely popular, billion dollar Fast and Furious franchise and will also be reprising his role in yet another franchise with xXx 3 – the man clearly has a good report with audiences and simply by attaching him to a project gets fans’ interests piqued.

The Last Witch Hunter will see Brock Eisner (The Crazies) in the director’s seat and is set for release on October 23, 2015

P.S. We will have an exciting Christmas treat for our readers to do with The Last Witch Hunter, so keep a look out for that. We will provide more details on this closer to December.
