After the brilliantly unhinged debauchery of Kingsman: The Secret Service, I don’t think we really needed any further excuse to get excited about it’s upcoming sequel. The movie gods apparently disagree. Returning director Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle is already boasting the somehow-back-from-the-dead return of Colin Firth’s badass Harry Hart, not to mention the addition of Channing Tatum, Julianne Moore and Sir Elton John, but it’s now been revealed that professional mean guy Vinnie Jones has joined the production as well.
The fan-favourite star of Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (which was produced by Vaughn) revealed the surprise casting himself on his Twitter feed in a bit of an odd turn of events. Jones initially tweeted that he was going to be in London to work on Kingsman 2, but since there had been zero word about his involvement in the movie thus far, some fans were not believing that it was in fact his official Twitter account. So as proof he posted a video of himself, holding up a recent newspaper to confirm the date. And during the video he also revealed that he was actually on the set of Kingsman 2 already and was about the film some scenes.

Ah, Vinnie Jones. What a joker! He later went on to post pics of himself in costume alongside Vaughn and Moore. Just check out that stylish suit and Union Jack shoes!

It’s uncertain right now just who Jones will be playing, or even whether he will be playing a good guy or a baddie. Some are assuming that since he’s seen here with Julianne Moore – who plays the film’s lead villain – he could be her colourful henchman, much like Sofia Boutella’s Gizelle in the first film. This second film will see Taron Egerton returning as new Kingsman Eggsy, while Mark Strong will also reprise his role as Merlin, with the pair “heading to the United States, where they’ll find an American verison of their own organization, lead by a swaggering, sharpshooting cowboy” who is believed to be played by Jeff Bridges.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle is scheduled for release on June 16, 2017.
