I think Voltron: Legendary Defender may be one of the best cartoon series of not only this year, but of several other numerical measurements of time spent orbiting that gigantic ball of gas and fire that gives us life. Simply mech-nificent, the first 13 episode run of Netflix’s big jump into animation was an absolute winner. And I think a TV series where five gigantic robot lions that can combine to form one massive ass-kicking cosmic Jaeger plays second fiddle to the most likable cast of characters around, says a lot about the pedigree of this series.

Voltron: Legendary Defender ended on a cliffhanger, as the cast of Lance, Pidge, Shiro, Hunk and Keith were scattered away from each other across the universe that happens to be rather big. Here’s the trailer for that second season, which picks up after the disastrous assault on Zarkon’s base of operations and a revelation revealed about the former Black Paladin who commanded the Black Lion before Shiro:

This weekend also happens to be the New York Comic Con, where the first episode of season 2 will be shown off. Here’s an official synopsis for it via GeekTyrant:

Catch the world premiere of an episode from the highly anticipated upcoming second season of DreamWorks Voltron Legendary Defender with executive producer Joaquim Dos Santos, co-executive producer Lauren Montgomery, story editor Tim Hedrick and voice actors Jeremy Shada and Bex Taylor-Klaus.  Together they’ll discuss what’s in store for Team Voltron and provide a glimpse inside what promises to be an epic second season, coming soon to Netflix. All panel attendees will receive an exclusive limited-edition Voltron poster.

If you happen to be going to New York Comic Con this weekend, then I’m sitting here shaking my fist at you as I happen to be peanut butter and jealous of you. Season 2 kicks off later this year, and once again stars Jeremy Shada as Lance, Bex Taylor-Klaus as Pidge, Josh Keaton as Shiro, Tyler Labine as Hunk, Steven Yeun as Keith, Kimberly Brooks as Princess Allura, and Rhys Darby as Coran.

If you haven’t watched season one yet, then dude what is wrong with you? I’m totally not talking to you until you go binge-watch it.
