Sweet Christmas comes early this year! This coming Friday the 13-episode-long first season of Netflix and Marvel’s Luke Cage goes live on the streaming service. The third Marvel series, following in the footsteps of the bone-crunching Daredevil and the psychologically-scarred Jessica Jones, stars Mike Colter as Harlem’s hero – the man with the unbreakable skin – Luke Cage.
It’s a show many of us here have been looking forward to watching and our secret TheMovies bunker is fully stocked with all the popcorn, chips, dips, beverages, left-over braai meat and adult nappies we need for a weekend binge-watching session; as well as a bottle of citronella spray and a soothing vanilla-scented ball-gag for Nick.

I very much like what I see here as we get what’s probably the most in-depth look (for a trailer) at just what we can expect from the series. Luke Cage has a distinct aesthetic compared to the above-mentioned Marvel/Netflix shows, and while Mike Colter’s Luke Cage may be just as reluctant a superhero as Daredevil and Jessica Jones, he’s also an unstoppable in-your-face force – unless you find his weak spot.
So, are you going to be binge-watching along with the rest of us?
