Community creator Dan Harmon sure has had an interesting career in film and television. After getting kicked off of his own show, he got re-hired when studio executives realised that they actually needed someone on board who could make Community watchable. Back on that set, Harmon also tried his hand at an animated series, eventually winding up with the Adult Swim show Rick and Morty.
And Great Scott, it’s absurd.
Together with Justin “Fish Hooks” Roiland, the duo came up with a series about “a sociopathic scientist who drags his unintelligent grandson on insanely dangerous adventures across the universe.” So kind of like Doctor Who, but with more alcohol. You can check the first episode out below for yourself, before it premieres on the small screen.
It starts December 2 on the USA Adult Swim, so I reckon it should arrive on DSTV two years from now.
