ONE MORE TIME BUB! After 16 years, Hugh Jackman is just about ready to hang up his claws, but not before he finishes one final movie starring the best thing to come out of Canada since a particular type of bacon (that’s not really bacon, but I digress). It’s really hard to imagine anyone other than Jackman unleashing the animal inside, as the role of Wolverine will forever be linked to him. It also helped that the previous Wolverine film was the exact opposite of the first one, in that it was not kak.

It was the Wolverine that everyone had wanted to see: A berserker unleashed who told ninjas to go f*** themselves. Damn good stuff. Well the end is drawing ever nearer for the film franchise that starred an Australian as a Canadian that conquered America, because Wolverine 3 has begin filming. Reuniting Jackman with director James Mangold, Wolverine 3 is aiming for that magical R-rating that Deadpool made so popular earlier this year.

And to do so, some “radical” ideas might be on the table. That’s according to producer Simon Kinberg, who told Collider that Jackman’s final outing as the Wolverine wasn’t holding back. Unless it involved a rumoured Patrick Stewart cameo. “It’s a very radical, bold, different Wolverine than you’ve ever seen in any of these movies,” Kinberg said.

I’m not sure what I’m allowed to say about that. I will agree with you that Patrick Stewart was rumoured to be a part of that film. It takes place in the future, and as you and others have reported, it is an R-rated movie. It’s violent, it’s kind of like a western in its tone. It’s just a very cool, different film.

That whole R-rating setup sounds perfect so far. The first Wolverine film that Mangold and Jackman shot was in fact not originally meant for kiddies, before said violence was slashed to more suitable PG 13 levels. Seriously, check out the director’s cut if you ever wanted to see what happens when ninjas get on the wrong side of a snow blower. Spoiler: It’s going to be a red Christmas.

The final Wolverine film for Jackman currently has a release date of March 3 2017 pencilled in.  Which is rather soon actually, if my maths is right. The film also stars Richard E. Grant, Stephen Merchant, Eriq Lasalle and Boyd Holbrook as the mystery villain, a “relentless, calculating and intense head of security for a global enterprise who is set against Jackman’s clawed Wolverine/Logan hero”.
