Facebook’s FarmVille isn’t what you’d call a game abundant with violent imagery or themes. There are many that would contend it’s not what you’d call a game at all. Still, it’s the reason a particularly addicted woman is now facing life in prison.
A lazy-eyed 22 year old woman from Jacksonville, Florida has pleaded guilty to killing her baby son over a game of Farmville. BAN THIS SICK FILTH!
Alexandra V. Tobias’ 3 month old baby boy, Dylan Lee Edmondson, had been frantically crying while she was trying to play the immeasurably popular Facebook game, Farmville. Instead of doing what most sane people would do – and try placate the ailing child – she instead picked the boy up and shook him violently.
After having a calming cigarette, she picked the kid up again, and shook him again. It’s believed that he "may have hit his head during the shaking".
Where’s Jack Thompson and the sensationalist media now? It’s obviously not violent video games that cause violent behaviour – but social networks. There’s 50 million normal, sane human being who’ve been turned in to psychopaths by Facebook alone. We are, as a society, screwed.
Zynga, the makers of the casual game have openly said how how calculating and psychological they are in making their games as addictive as possible. Maybe they ought to tone it down a little?
