World of Warcraft on an iPhone

The iPhone is really starting to flex it’s muscle as a gaming machine and if this video is not fake then I could quite easily see it becoming the number 1 handheld console on the planet very soon.

I am not a WoW player myself but there are millions of people out there who would happily pick up an iPhone just to be able to play WoW on the way to the office in the morning.

Apparently it’s running on Vollee which is a CPU intensive PC emulator for 3G phones which opens up the possibility of using the iPhone for pretty much every other highly addictive game out there. According to the developers

“Through the VolleeX engine, we can take full PC games, MMOs or even virtual worlds and stream them to any 3G enabled handsets. This means that you can now access games or full persistent online worlds right from your mobile handset. It’s a real step forward for mobile games as you can now have meaningful connected experiences on your handset.”

I became PSP-less about a year ago and recently I have been getting the urge to pick one up for some better looking handheld gaming. Don’t get me wrong I love my DS but sometimes I just need a prettier picture to stare at on the train.

However I think I am just going to try and save up that little bit more and get the iPhone instead, it just seems a lot more capable.
