WWE RAW Results January 14, 2019 – The Royal Rumble main event gets a huge shake-up

WWE Monday Night RAW took place from the Fedex Forum in Memphis, Tennessee. Here’s all the action that went down last night as the Royal Rumble drew closer.

Mr. McMahon called off Braun Strowman’s Universal Title Match at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view

Monday Night RAW may have kicked off with the time honoured tradition of Braun Strowman chasing someone backstage (Baron Corbin in this case), but the monster amongst men soon found himself in hot water when he faced off against the most powerful force in the WWE: Vince McMahon. Furious that Strowman had damaged his limousine in his chase, McMahon dealt two harsh blows to Strowman: A $100 000 fine and he was stripped of his Universal Championship title shot against Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble.

Needless to say, the gift of destruction was not happy, and decided to finish the job on the limo.

Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey and Sasha Banks def. Nia Jax and Tamina

They may be enemies come the Royal Rumble, but last night saw WWE RAW Women’s champion Ronda Rousey team up with Sasha Banks to hand Nia Jax and Tamina a defeat. The Banks Statement on Tamina may have sealed the deal on the match, but the night wasn’t over yet as Rousey and Banks came close to throwing fists against one another in the ring and backstage.

The Revival def. The Lucha House Party

Wait, Dash and Dawson won? FINALLY. The tag team specialists known as The Revival managed to pick up a huge win last night, as the Lucha House Party no longer had their Lucha Rules to rely on and were soon put down for the count. Gran Metalik and Kalisto put on a show for the ages, but it was Dash Wilder who got some sweet revenge when he kicked Metalik’s boot off the bottom rope as his partner pinned him, picking up the win in the process.

Mr. McMahon announced a Fatal 4-Way Match to determine Brock Lesnar’s newest challenger

Someone needs to face Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble, and the locker room isn’t exactly short of talent that deserves a title shot. So who was the worthiest in the eyes of Mr McMahon? None other than a quartet of superstars who all pleaded their case for a chance at glory: John Cena, Drew McIntyre, Baron Corbin and Finn Balor.

Balor was facing an uphill struggle however as McMahon still had doubts in him. Doubts that Balor intended to address once and for all by wagering his spot in the fatal 4-way match against Jinder Mahal.

Nikki Cross, Bayley and Natalya def. The Riott Squad

The Riott Squad may have challenged Bayley and Natalya to a tag team match, but the trio got more than they bargained for when their competition decided to even the odds and add the twisted sister of NXT to their ranks. Nikki Cross made a heck of a splash, running wild and helping Bayley score a winning elbow drop on Liv Morgan to finish the bout.

Finn Bálor def. Jinder Mahal to keep him out of the Fatal 4-Way to determine Brock Lesnar’s challenger

Looks like Mahal’s dreams of being a world champion will have to remain a fantasy, as the modern day Maharaja found himself unable to steal Finn Balor’s spot in the race to find WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar’s latest challenger. The Extraordinary Man who does Extraordinary Things delivered his trademark Coup de Grace to Mahal, keeping him out of the race and his own dreams of chasing gold alive for another day.

Bobby Lashley def. Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins to become the new Intercontinental Champion (Triple Threat Match)

In a chaotic match that saw Dean Ambrose forging impromptu alliances and Seth Rollins attacking anything in the ring, it was Bobby Lashley who stood tall by the time the bell was rung. Thanks to some interference from Lio Rush, Lashley locked a Spear right into the abdomen of Ambrose, dethroning the Intercontinental champ and earning some sought-after gold in the process.

Alexa Bliss revealed the WWE Women’s Tag Team Title belts

Looks like there’ll be some extra gold for the women’s division to chase after in the WWE. Plus, Paul Heyman had plenty to say about Brock Lesnar’s strategy for the Royal Rumble: No matter who he faced, they’d soon be tasting an F-5.

Finn Balor def. John Cena, Baron Corbin and Drew McIntyre

Mr McMahon may have his doubts over whether or not Finn Balor can dethrone Brock Lesnar, but after last night the Irishman proved that he was more than ready to step into the ring with the Beast Incarnate. A chaotic match that saw plenty of action, it was Balor who scored the crucial pin of the night when he landed his Coup de Grace on John Cena, dropping the legendary former world champion and earning his rightful spot as the new number one contender for a title that was his for a tragically brief time two years ago.
