Ladies and gentlemen…LEEEEEEEEEET’S GET READY TO RRRRRUUUUUUUUUUUMBLE! And now I owe Michael Buffer five bucks. Still, it’s worth it simply for the fact that one of the tentpole events on the WWE calendar kicks off this Sunday. Before Wrestlemania can arrive and highlight the showcase of the immortals, many a WWE superstar seeks to make a name in a ring where anything can and will go.
The rules have and always will be simple: Two superstars start out in the ring, with a new challenger entering every two minutes. The only way to be eliminated is to throw your opponent out of the ring and over the top ropes until only one man is left standing. The prize for the winner? A ticket to the Wrestlemania main event, to challenge for the title of their choice.
This year will see history made, as the women’s division will also hold their own Rumble. But hey! It’s not just top-rope ejection matches going down this Sunday! Here’s the rest of the match card for you to peruse through:
- SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos vs. Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin (2-out-of-3-Falls Match)
- Raw Tag Team Champions Seth Rollins and Jason Jordan vs. Cesaro and Sheamus
- Universal Champion Brock Lesnar vs. Braun Strowman vs. Kane (Triple Threat Match)
- WWE Champion AJ Styles vs. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn — 2-on-1 Handicap Match for the WWE Title
- The first-ever 30-Woman Over-The-Top Royal Rumble Match
- The 2018 30-Man Over-The-Top Royal Rumble Match
The great thing about the Rumble, is that it’s often a showcase for superstars from yesteryear to return and grab some of the spotlight. There’ll probably be a few familiar faces returning in both Rumbles, but for now here’s the list of everyone in the Women’s event:
- Asuka
- Ruby Riott
- Liv Morgan
- Sarah Logan
- Sasha Banks
- Nia Jax
- Bayley
- Naomi
- Natalya
- Sonya Deville
- Mandy Rose
- Mickie James
- Tamina Snuka
- Lana
- Carmella
- Becky Lynch
- Dana Brooke
- Alicia Fox
And every superstar taking part in the Men’s Rumble:
- John Cena
- Finn Bálor
- Randy Orton
- Shinsuke Nakamura
- The Miz
- Elias
- Baron Corbin
- “Woken” Matt Hardy
- Bray Wyatt
- Aiden English
- Rusev
- Titus O’Neil
- Apollo Crews
- Tye Dillinger
- Big E
- Kofi Kingston
- Xavier Woods
Who’s your money on, this weekend? Personally? I hope Woken Matt Hardy manages to delete all of the competition. That would be simply…WONDERFUL!
