Smackdown Feb 28 (1)

WWE Smackdown Live took place from the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Here’s all the action that went down.

Matters on “Miz TV” got explosive between John Cena, The Miz, Maryse and Nikki Bella

Smackdown Feb 28 (2)

Smackdown kicked off as you expected it would: The Miz ran his mouth, Cena fired back, shots were fired and the Awesome one hightailed it out of the ring with Maryse while Nikki Bella stood tall with her husband in the ring. Next!

Becky Lynch defeated Mickie James in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match

Smackdown Feb 28 (3)

There’s a rivalry brewing between the Lass-kicker Becky Lynch and Mickie James, and the results are kinetic to say the least when it comes to ringside action. The two ladies decided to settle their differences with an old-school best two out of three falls match last night, with James scoring the first pin with a DDT outta nowhere.

Lynch soon evened the score with a roll-up pin, as the two ladies went for broke in the final stretch. Smackdown Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss thought that her presence at ringside would give James the edge needed, but even the champ couldn’t stop Lynch from locking in the Dis-Arm-Her to score the second winning pin in the match.

AJ Styles defeated Luke Harper to become No. 1 Contender to WWE Champion Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania

Smackdown ended with a controverst last week, as both Luke Harper and AJ Styles managed to be eliminated at the same time in a battle royale to find the number one contender to face WWE Champion Bray Wyatt at Wrestlemania. This week, the odds were simpler. Styles and Harper would face each other in singles competition, the winner of that bout punching a ticket to the showcase of the immortals.

And while Styles may have emerged triumphant, he had to work for his victory as Harper used every trick in the book, even getting the match restarted at one point so that the two could continue on as Styles eventually landed a Springboard 450 Splash that put the big man down for good.

Dean Ambrose vs. Curt Hawkins never occurred; Ambrose called out Baron Corbin

Smackdown Feb 28 (4)

Curt Hawkins never even stood a chance against an outraged Dean Ambrose, as the Intercontinental champ had some Dirty Deeds waiting for the challenger before the match could even begin. But Ambrose wasn’t there to fight small fry, instead demanding that Baron Corbin come down to the ring and face him. Corbin did appear, but on the Titantron screen instead as he declared that he would face off against Ambrose soon, but on his own terms.

Dolph Ziggler defeated Apollo Crews in a Chairs Match

Smackdown Feb 28 (5)

The show-off has favoured the use of a certain steel device for resting one’s buttocks upon lately, and last night Ziggler got to make full use of his favourite chairs in a match against Terry Crews. Fortunately, the real deal did as well but his attempts at performing a con-chair-to weren’t enough to stop Ziggler from using the dreaded device to crush his larynx and win the match.

Randy Orton burned down The Wyatt Family Compound during Bray Wyatt’s Invocation

Smackdown Feb 28 (7)

Things are looking good for Bray Wyatt! He happens to be WWE Champion, Randy Orton is his devoted pupil and he has all the confidence in the world that his title match at Wrestlemania will end with him walking out of the ring as champ. Only Wyatt forgot one thing: Never trust a Viper. While Wyatt was waxing lyrical in the ring about how AJ Styles would soon be demolished at Wrestlemania, Orton had other ideas.

Smackdown Feb 28 (6)

Appearing live from the compound where the mysterious “Sister Abigail” rests in the ground, Orton was reborn in flames, flames set loose on the compound and the hallowed Wyatt ground that serves as a resting place for the wayward sister. And as the winner of the Royal Rumble, Orton was ready to cash in his hard-won right to challenge the Eater of Worlds at Wrestlemania.

Now that’s a betrayal, outta nowhere.
