It seems that every week, Smackdown LIVE General Manager Daniel Bryan and Commissioner Shane McMahon are butting heads, and this week was no exception. Taking umbrage with the fact that Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn had been granted a number of opportunities, Shane accused Bryan of using the duo of the Yep Movement to further his own dream of one day returning to the ring.

A statement that left Bryan shocked and saw WWE champion AJ Styles enter the scene. Styles wasn’t happy with Zayn and Owens in the main event scene either, but he nevertheless pledged to defend his title against whichever superstar won the main event later in the night.

In Riott Squad news, Liv Morgan’s attempts to dethrone the queen resulted in failure. Seeking payback after she was ambushed last week, Charlotte Flair battled inside and outside the ring as the Riott Squad watched on, eventually triumphing with her Figure-Eight for the tapout victory.

Another week, another tag team fed to the forge of the Bludgeon Brothers. Harper and Rowan locked horns with some local talent, in a match that quickly became another showcase on their way to the top of the tag team food chain. In a brief showdown with The Usos, the Bludgeon Bros. barely noticed the champs, leaving the top tier team briefly uncertain of what to make of their potential competition.

Back on the Smackdown LIVE stage, The Usos were once again ready to claim that the Uso Penitentiary was in lockdown, as all their challengers are jailed within their own minds. That was…that was it really.

Emerging victorious after a Fatal-4 Way match last week, Rusev had earned the right to challenge Bobby Roode for his gold. The super-athlete was hellbent on retrieving a championship that he had one made famous, delivering all manner of pain to Roode. The US Champion rallied back eventually, ending Rusev Day when he escaped the Accolade and locked in the Glorious DDT to secure his title and pick up another win.

AND THEN! Outta nowhere. An RKO on the glorious one. Randy Orton was back, as he dropped the champ, Rusev and his lackey Aiden English with his iconic finishers.

Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable def. The Ascension

Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin may not be the tag team champs, but the duo have a new mission in the WWE: Ridding the division of all the comedy teams who don’t the pursuit of excellence seriously. Having eliminated Breezango in their quest, Gable and Benjamin went for The Ascension next, absorbing the damage dealt to them by Viktor and Konnor.

With a Wicked Powerbomb/Bulldog combo locked on, the 1-2-3 count was heard loud and clear last night.

Daniel Bryan announced a Triple Threat Match for the WWE Title at WWE Fastlane after Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn ended in a no contest

Best friend versus bestest friend. Kevin Owens. Sami Zayn. The WWE Championship caught in the middle, as the Yep movement went head to head for a shot at glory…and all hell broke loose. Their match spilling to the outside while WWE Champion AJ Styles joined the commentary team, it was only a matter of time until the champ got involved.

That he did when Zayn was goaded into attacking Owens and Zayn, resulting in general manager Daniel Bryan hitting the scene to make an announcement: All three men will settle their differences at WWE Fastlane, in a Triple-Threat match. How about that then.
