This week’s episode of Smackdown was taped at the BMO Harris Bank Center in Rockford Illinois. Featuring AJ Styles, The New Day and Rusev, here’s all the action that went down.
Opening segment
The WWE Tag Team champions The New Day are in the ring, but their segment is quickly derailed by the arrival of the Club. And with that, we have a main event for the night that features AJ Styles and Kofi Kingston in singles competition.
Becky Lynch defeated Charlotte via DQ
In a non-title match between Ric Flair’s champion daughter and Becky Lynch on Smackdown, Dana Brooke popped up and got Charlotte disqualified. The two went for Lynch in a typical beatdown, but Natalya arrived to save the day as the two faces chased off Charlotte and Dana.
The Dudley Boyz defeated Goldust and R-Truth
Gee, I hope a certain duo didn’t appear and distract Goldust and R-Truth. Which is what totally happened, as Tyler Breeze and Fandango hit the ring and gave the Dudley Boyz an opening to pick up a win on Smackdown.
Dean Ambrose and Sami Zayn defeated Kevin Owens and Alberto Del Rio
The Money In The Bank feud continued, with Ambrose and Zayn picking up the win. After the match, Owens set up a ladder, climbed it and grabbed the promotional briefcase dangling above the heads of the superstars.
Rusev defeated Jack Swagger
The Bulgarian brute made swift work of Swagger, and proceeded to celebrate with a post-match beatdown before Titus O’Neil came in to save the day on Smackdown.
AJ Styles defeated Kofi Kingston
The main event featured the phenomenal one Aj Styles up against The New Day’s Kofi Kingston. Styles landed the Styles Clash on Kingston, while Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson opened up a can of feud for thought on Big E and Xavier Woods at ringside. And that was Smackdown for the night!
