Much like their source material, Zombie films are slowly rotting away. They’ve had their run at the box office, with serious and gory films making some cash, but the fad is dying, and it won’t be resurrecting with a bang anytime soon.
It’s time for the walking dead to clear on out then. Which is exactly what ol’ Brick Top and some youngsters are doing, in this hilarious and NSFW red band trailer.
Written by James “Severance” Moran, it looks like his latest film will continue the tradition of mixing some witty comedy with buckets of blood and gore, feeling fresher than a newly buried corpse in a tired genre.
A bunch of east-enders fight their way out of a zombie-infested London, led by an unlikely gang of amateur bank robbers and foul-mouthed plucky pensioners.
Alan Ford steals the show in the trailer though, and seeing subtle digs at football hooligan zombies having a go at one another is pure comedy gold, although the icing on the cake has to be seeing a pensioner with a walker attempt to shamble faster than the zombie behind him, a joke that has surely earned me a spot in the fiery infernos for finding it so damn funny.
Cockneys VS zombies is out at the end of this month in the UK, although we’ll most likely have to wait for a Blu-Ray/DVD release for this intriguing film.

Not a fan of zombies, at all, except for Shaun of the Dead. This looks like it’s in the same vein, so I might give it a try.

Ah, Michelle Ryan… One of my favourite Doctor Who guest star companions.
