THE PIRATE FAIRY

It seems these days you cannot venture to the cinema without falling over an origin story, or a prequel, or a re-awaking-of-how-an-idea-might-form-possibly… Okay, not so much the last one. While Disney thaws out from its recent Frozen – which went on to become the biggest Walt Disney Studios Animation and Disney/Pixar box-office success in South Africa – The Pirate fairy will be fluttering its wings into cinemas early May. Pirate Fairy you ask? Set in the world of Peter Pan in an age where the notorious ‘I’m responsibly for little Timmy’s nightmares’ Captain Hook is but a boy (played by the totally awesome Loki, I mean Tom Hiddleston) we follow the adventures of Zarina (voice acted by Christina Hendricks, Joan Harris in the television series Mad Men), a naughty little fairy who likes to play around with fairy dust, don’t we all? Anyway, suffice it to say Tinker Bell ( Ann Veal, Arrested Development) has to buzz in and save the naughty little fairy with her friends whilst going wings to sword with pirates. And, well PIRATES! ARRRR!

From the world of “Peter Pan” comes The Pirate Fairy, a swashbuckling new adventure about Zarina (voice of Christina Hendricks), a smart and ambitious dust-keeper fairy who’s captivated by Blue Pixie Dust and its endless possibilities. When Zarina’s wild ideas get her into trouble, she flees Pixie Hollow and joins forces with the scheming pirates of Skull Rock, who make her captain of their ship. Tinker Bell (voice of Mae Whitman) and her friends must embark on an epic adventure to find Zarina, and together they go sword-to-sword with the band of pirates led by a cabin boy named James (voice of Tom Hiddleston), who’ll soon be known as Captain Hook himself. With laughter, heart, magic and thrills, The Pirate Fairy sets sail across South African cinemas May 2, 2014.

  1. Hey, these Tinker Bell movies are quite enjoyable, you know? And seeing as Tom Hiddleston will be joining them, I am going to look forward to this one in 3…2…1

This is the first movie in the series. It may be a bit too girly for some, but I found them quite charming, to be honest.

Hmm, when I read “pirate fairy” I thought the movie was about PC gaming.
