Contrary to all the petitions, message board rants and rather creative new derogatory slurs, Ben Affleck is actually doing other things besides just pissing people off for being Batman. One of those things is director Brad “Lincoln Lawyer” Furman’s Runner Runner, an upcoming “inspired by a true story” thriller where he gets to not only chew scenery like he last did in Boiler Room, but also teach Justin Timberlake that it would probably have been safer for him if he had just stayed with N’Sync.
Princeton grad student Richie (Justin Timberlake), believing he’s been swindled, travels to Costa Rica to confront online gambling tycoon Ivan Block (Ben Affleck). Richie is seduced by Block’s promise of immense wealth, until he learns the disturbing truth about his benefactor. When the FBI tries to coerce Richie to help bring down Block, Richie faces his biggest gamble ever: attempting to outmaneuver the two forces closing in on him.
In a surprising reversal of fortunes, we’ll be able to find out whether Affleck feeds Timberlake to that hungry crocodile a week before the folks over in Obamaland, as the film opens locally on September 27, and internationally on October 4, 2013.
