Brie Larson is one of those actresses who should really be a lot more famous than she is. The pretty American actress has been stealing scenes in supporting roles for years, before she finally had her big breakout lead role in 2013’s Short Term 12. Much to the surprise of many though, despite all the critical love that role got her, it was largely ignored by the cranky old farts big awards ceremonies. Maybe this time they can pay better attention.
Based on the award-winning best-selling novel by Emma Donoghue – who also adapted her own work for the screenplay – Room is an upcoming drama/thriller about a woman and her son who are held captive in a room for five years. And based on this engrossing first trailer, it appears to be the type of meaty, transformative role that Larson may just need to finally make the rest of the world take notice of her talents.
Check it out below.
Room was directed by Lenny Abrahamson (Frank) and also stars William H. Macy, Joan Allen, and Sean Bridgers. It will be debuting at the Toronto International Film Festival later in the year, and then getting a limited opening in cinemas on October 16, 2015

Thriller? This looks more like a sneak attack by onion cutting ninjas.
