When development team 5th Cell announces a game, people should pay attention – these guys have made some fantastically innovative and unique titles in the past. Scribblenauts? Drawn to Life? Yeah, they did those!

So now they’ve got a new game in the works and it is (wait for it) a third-person, post apocalyptic shooter for Xbox Live Arcade. Wait, what? What happened to “innovative”?

But let us not judge that which has only been teased, as 5th Cell is aiming for “a completely new gameplay experience never seen before in the genre”.

Very little is known so far, but what we can tell you is that there will be two factions involved: the Paladins and the Variants. From the sounds of things, humanity has pretty much been sidelined in the struggle between these two opposing groups. There is some cryptic information over on the game’s official site, as well as a teaser trailer.

Hybrid will hit Xbox Live Arcade in 2011. Until then we’ll keep our eyes peeled for any further information.
