8 year old boy executes his grandmother

Over the weekend an 8 year old child picked up a gun, put it to the back of his 87 year old grandmothers head and pulled the trigger killing her instantly. This all took place in Slaughter Louisiana. You can’t make this stuff up.

But why are we tell you this? Well because as it happened the opinionated and loud mouthed Piers Morgan tweeted the following

And as he has a nightly show on CNN and closing on 4 million followers he is seen as someone to listen to. The problem is as much as I agree with Piers on gun control and the desperate need for more of it locally and in America I simply can’t believe he is stupid enough to link video games with killings.

Let’s go back to the story. An 8 year old executed his grandmother. I have an 8 year old child and I’ve seen what games are available for them and I can promise you that not a single one of them has violence anywhere near the level of executing a family member.

I can also tell you that at 8 years old they are aware that death is final.

So what game was this kid playing that caused him to do this? According to the reports the reason he did this was because there was a copy of GTA IV in the PS3 in the house. When the police arrived the TV was turned off but the console was still on and they have now decided that he was obviously playing the game before he decided to kill his grandmother.

This all happened in a mobile home park where I can’t imagine they had that many TV’s and the grandmother was shot in the head while watching TV… so do they have 2 TV’s in their mobile home?

Any further leap in logic here and we would be blaming the lizard people.

According to the kid he was simply playing with the gun and it went off, killing his grandmother who everyone has agreed that he had a normal loving relationship with.

So to some this up. This kid is left with his grandmother all day in a mobile home park where they suspect he has been allowed to play an 18 rated game while also having access to a loaded weapon… and games are the problem?

No you bloody morons the problem here is parenting or the blatant lack of it. If my daughter stole my car at 8 and drove into someone I wouldn’t blame the car company for making such a dangerous device.

The child has been released into the care of his useless parents now and won’t be charged with a crime as he is under 10 years old. I wonder if maybe they will think about locking up the loaded weapon this time or if they’ll just ban him from playing console games and rather spend his time outside shooting things instead.

Morons.

    Indeed dude.
    1. Why is there access to a firearm?
    2. Why is there access to adult rated game?
    3. Why is he living with gran?
    4. Why so many effing other things?

I like your example of the car stealing. Very appropriate, since it is YOUR responsibility as parent to restrict access.

Sad indeed that someone died, very sad. But blame the correct outlets you bloorie muppets

Sad what happened, but blame the correct outlets indeed. America needs more gun control – yes. It is WAY to easy to get a gun there! Here, it is absolutely ridiculous the hoops I have to jump through. “Oh, you want a gun to become a sports shooter? You first need to be a member of a club. Why join a club and pay fees if you might never get the license? Exactly haha REJECTED!”. Got a way around my hoops though, which while tedious is also perhaps a bit too easy. BUT DO NOT BLAME THE GAMES FOR THESE TRAVESTIES!

You don’t need gun control, you need bullet control. If a bullet cost five thousand dollars, there won’t be no innocent bystanders….. I’m gonna get a job, gonna make some money, and I’m coming back here to put a cap in your ass. – Chris rock (I think)

Most of the ardent gun owners in the country are self loaders, they don’t buy ammo as is as they all prefer a certain bullet load.
Botswana had a great idea for a few years, you were only allowed to have 50 (I think) bullets per year / hunting season. They’ve now banned hunting all together so I don’t know how it affected that law.

Uh… how does limiting the ammo you can buy to 50 bullets per year restrict your ability to kill someone?

That would apply to a school massacre, but not killing grandma. All it takes is one.

The issue is that lots of gun owners are negligent due to lack of proper gun control (I.E: Testing and Teaching)

Did some reading up on this. Seems like the gran was busy watching TV when it happened and they just found the disk in the Playstation, and that led them to the connection (I think Gavin mentioned it as well). So there is no proof that he was actually playing the game before the shooting occurred. just police, psychologists and reporters assuming it because they found a copy of the game.

If they found a copy of Slipknot in the CD player, then they would have blamed that!

      1. The 2nd Amendment, unfortunately it’s written broadly enough to allow people to have carte blanche over (most) weaponry in the US, and any thought to do something about it is decried as an attempt to destroy the Constitution. The gun lobby is rich enough, so that it can blanket a politicians district with negative ads on any individual who’s considered even moderate 2nd amendment, and literally destroy them.

      2. Parents being active in their kids life? No way.

Next time you fire up Spec Ops, have a look at the disclaimer at the bottom of the screen about how they don’t endorse or encourage the behaviour in the game. How dumb is the world that you need such a disclaimer?

PS: finished it yesterday, awesome experience – the ending is particularly disturbing.

I found Konrad dead at the top of the tower, his reflection was in the mirror telling me it was all in my head with flashbacks to scenes from earlier in the game that suddenly became a lot more weird, he was counting down from 5 to shoot me but I chose to end it myself. BOOM HEAD SHOT.

The responsibility lies SOLELY on the pathetic shoulders of the parents. I am assuming they were not about, but even if that is the case it is their responsibility to make sure granny isn’t packing heat. This really pisses me off.

Think people need to remember that the ultimate purpose of a gun is to kill, complacency & not being careful with one is the height of foolishness.

This pisses me off on level that I cannot even express. They should rather ask why the kid had access to a gun and why did his parents/guardian allow him to play an 18 rated game?

With this kind of thinking everything that has the potential to kill you should be banned from the face of the earth.

Games don’t make people kill each other unless said person already had a screwed up mind to begin with and he would probably have killed someone regardless of the games he played or movies he watched.

I played video and computer games since I was 5 years old, I played games like Doom and Duke 3D when I was still in primary school and never did I have the urge to pick up my dad’s gun and shoot someone. Why? Because my parents and teachers taught me the difference between reality and fantasy.

I hate it when people blame games / gaming for how children act / do things these days. Yes games could somehow (TO A POINT) be blamed for this, BUT NOT ENTIRELY! Don’t understand me incorrectly. What i’m saying and what Gavin is also saying is that children need discipline and should not have access to these type of stuff.

I have seen kids around ages 8 – 14+ walking out a game store with their parents which bought them 18+ rated games. How could parents allow this? But also I bet you its not only games rated 18+ they are allowed to play, look at the movies / series of today and their age restrictions… But they are still ignored and children can watch anything on Tv / dstv these days and get exposure to this type of violence.

Kids need to know what is the difference between right and wrong! Yes I was one of those kids that at the age of 10+ I played Doom 3 and half life and those type of violence games but did you see me killing anyone? NO! Cause I for a fact know what is wrong and right and know the difference between games and reality. Life is not a game.

Shouldn’t “So to some this up.” be ‘So to sum this up.’?

Sorry, I have a inner Grammar Nazi and I lack discipline.

Life hack tip: If you’re going to kill someone, make sure to turn on your gaming console so that it will be blamed, and not you.

Oh man. Again the video game angle? Seriously? When is bad parenting going to be blamed? Honestly? an 18 rated game for an 8 year old kid? Guess we need to ask why everyone’s math is so bad. 8 does not equal 18. Grief

This has been happening forever. When I was growing up, A-team, Airwolf and Knight Rider has been blamed as too violent for children to watch. And of course it was believed that it was morphing our poor little minds totally.

Remember kids. This is the country where coffee needs to be classified as hot because that is not its natural state.

Firstly, Piers Morgan is a sensationalist journo. He feeds off this sort of thing and likes to stir the pot. But having said that. CNN has lost its earlier prestige as a ethical news agency. It creates good ratings to have a prick like Piers create waves surrounding this debate. His tweet is preposterous, Is he in any way qualified to say that with any authority on the matter ? No. Just jump on the gravy train baby. Viewership is important. He is acting like that crazy lawyer, Jack Thompson. Fox news has already started to look for alternatives to American gun control to be blamed for violence in Schools. Games are a convenient scapegoat.

    A few questions:

    1) Why do violent video games still exist? (They are NOT entertaining.)

    2) Who leaves a loaded gun laying around the house?

    3) Why would this guy murder his grandma that he has a “loving relationship” with?

    4) Why can’t he be charged with a crime? (I want a GOOD reason.)

First of all, video games should be checked for appropriateness. If they would be anything worse than an E rating, they should be forced to be made more appropriate until they are to what would be an E rating. (same with movies (up through what would be PG) and shows (up through what would be PG, again)) Secondly, life might be better off without guns and violence. Thirdly, why does this guy need to be like people in a video game? It’s NOT worth losing your grandma to be like UNENTERTAINING violent video game characters. Finally, someone should not be allowed to just kill off a bunch of people and not get in trouble just because of their age! So anyone under 10 who feels like killing people can just do it without punishment in Louisiana! If he ever applies for a job somewhere at anytime in his life, the first thing that he should be forced to put on his application should be: MURDERED HIS GRANDMA BECAUSE HE WANTED TO BE LIKE PEOPLE IN A VIDEO GAME THAT SHOULD NOT EXIST BECAUSE OF ITS INAPPROPRIATE VIOLENT MATERIAL (in 72 point font, bold, and all caps)

Why not blame the gun for having a trigger? seriously… some people need to actually watch their kids, pay attention to them, maybe teach them what to do and not to do, like don’t shoot grandma…
