Fans of military real-time strategy games have been starved for a good, triple A, not free-to-play game for ages – pretty much since Command and Conquer went down the tubes. That changes soon though, when Company of Heroes 2 from Relic Entertainment and new publisher SEGA releases. Here’s a new trailer showcasing the RTS’ three core bits of warfare, giving you a bird’s eye view of  infantry, armoured vehicle and aerial assaults.

Company of Heroes 2 is the sequel to the “highest rated strategy game of all time” and is coming exclusively to PC on June 25. Those who pre-order will also get the recently announced  ‘Theatre of War’ additional game mode, which provides a new single player stories from another part of the war.

“Theatre of War offers single player and co-op maps, as well as solo challenges where players are pitted against overwhelming odds, AI battles against an enemy commander with a unique play style and co-operative scenarios for fans to enjoy with their friends.”

Wargame: European Escalation is good – but it’s an FHI game. Not triple A.

Please be great! I’ll be honest, I was hoping that this would be a modern-era theatre of war before it was announced. However, what I’ve seen so far seems to strongly imply that there is still a little more room for innovation in WW2-era RTS.

I’m hoping that CoH3 will be modern-era, since C&C has ignored itself and its own previous success, and doesn’t intend on returning to simple modern war.

Love Men of War, tough as nails and when you ramp up the difficulty almost impossible! The new expansions I do however feel is a bit lacking and only cashing in on the originals success.

Pass if THQ released it I would be happy, I tend to boycot games that promises additional single player content if I preorder although that content should be included in the full game.

If you dont release the full game to the community then I wont give you any money anymore enough is enough …..

Played in the open Beta. Although it did have one or two concerning issues (like not being able to assign your own hotkeys) I thought the game was done really well. Managed to keep those aspects of the game which made it great in the first place, but added another entirely novel dimension by forcing players to be very aware of the surrounding terrain and changing weather conditions.

Sending a mass of infantry out on an assault only to have them all freeze to death in a blizzard helps you to learn very quickly that a little extra planning is a necessity. Either that or you have to make sure you have the resource stockpiles continuously to replace them.

Hang on, I think I may be Joseph Stalin?
