Last year, High Moon studios stunned fans with the rather brilliant Transformers: War for Cybertron game. It was a solid action romp that merged the best of its genre with transforming, on the fly gameplay that gave the title a degree of challenging and tactical gameplay, but most importantly, it made the diehard fans happy.
The gameplay formula was so successful in fact, that it was almost copied and pasted into the tie-in for this years Transformers film, levitating it into an above average experience, making it a movie tie-in game that wasn’t actually terrible…for once. With such a strong debut behind it, its only natural that Activision would like to publish a sequel, and that’s just what’s going to happen.
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron continues the tale of the civil war between the Autobots and Decepticons, as Gameinformer has revealed, but the fundamental gameplay will have several tweaks and modifications, in response to fan feedback.
High Moon studios is labelling the game as a natural successor instead of a true sequel, and have confirmed that fan favourite character Grimlock, a dinobot that can transform into a towering Tyrannosaurus Rex, will be a playable character.
Personally, I can’t wait to try out the multiplayer again, and I hope that High Moon has given that particular mode some improvements, because who wouldn’t want to rip their friends apart online as a giant robot T-Rex?
