Playing Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare online last week was pretty much impossible unless getting merciless dominated by a horrible online ping sounds like fun. It’s improved drastically though, allowing me to actually get some decent game time in over the weekend. Just enough, in fact, to spot a game breaking bug in one of the maps.
The map in question is called Horizon, another one of Advanced Warfare’s snow capped arenas of battle. At the beginning of my Kill Confirmed match the entire team couldn’t find a single one of the opponents, until we all stumble into a room with a suspiciously full elevator. The entire team had got behind the glass door, which allowed them to shoot out and blocked anyone shooting in.
So instead of one player being virtually invincible, this room was allowing the whole team to do just that. I didn’t manage to capture footage of the game while I was playing, but a little hunting threw up this video which basically shows off what I’m trying to explain.
It also proves that this wasn’t one isolated glitch. Having this one glass elevator virtually kills the map in terms of competitive play, especially in games modes where kills are your primary objective. Whoever spawns nearest the elevator, and knows its dirty secrets, essentially wins the game against the odd few who don’t. Just like me and my entire team last night.
Bugs are common in new releases, so I do hope Sledgehammer Games address this exploit soon. Otherwise Horizon could just signal the point at which I turn off my multiplayer session and call it a day. It was a really depressing way to end off an otherwise much better online session in Advanced Warfare last night.

Can’t you just cook a grenade and then lob it through whatever crack they crawled through to get into the elevator in the first place?
Imagine the havoc you would have unleashed as wiped out the entire opposing team with 1 grenade.

actually, on local servers, those who use the ingame voip are in the minority, played most of tonight and only had 2 guys using it, of which, one was being a douche, claing “noob hacks” etc.
and text chat is nearly non existant ingame.
so no one really comments on anything.

Better idea, keep the bug and ban anybody that uses it. Only loosers/cheaters would use the bug to win, and those are the people that will also swear at people the whole time. So by banning them you making the game more enjoyable for everybody

or just pretend the elevator doesnt exist and let them sit there getting nothing out of it.
the elevator is pretty isolated, so unless someone comes looking, theyll just sit there alone.

That doesn’t work unless you can get your whole team to stay away from the elevator. As long as a few keep trying, they’ll stay in there and keep racking up kills why you just wait while your team loses. It’s a serious game-breaking bug on that map.

it obviously needs to be fixed, but the point was that there are solutions other than having hissy fits.
its a glitch abuse, not hacking or cheating.
Even CoD4 had those, the one hailed as the best of them all, had glitches to abuse.
and if one or two decide to keep trying, then so be it, the bottom two players in public games usually have terrible scores anyway and they deserve them. it would be nothing unusual and no worse than their usual scores.

Why buy the game if you’re just going to hang around and troll in an elevator, rather go down to the local mall and ride theirs, it’ll be cheaper in the long run and the gamers that actually want to play the game will have more fun too. (Just my 2 cents worth)

did a fair bit of playing last night and tonight, but havent seen anyone use it yet.
games much better with the ping situation now atleast, you still suffer if anyone so much as breathes on the internet, whether that matters or not, i dunno, seeing as CoD seems to suck 100% of your bandwidth, so no one else can really use the net anyway.

CoD tries to grab all the bandwidth possible, rather than the amount that is needed.
theres a funny lag compensation thing in place to give the newbies a chance at competing at an even level, apparently to do that, it needs the entire internet.

Take the two bigass akimbo guns with 150 round mags and blast the shit out of the outside wall where they can’t see you. Problem solved. You can use other guns but bigger mags make it easier without the reload. Just look for the hit markers
