Advanced Warfare’s campaign just 5 hours long?

howlong

It’s become a bit of a joke how short Call of Duty’s single player campaigns have become. Sledgehmammer Games’ Glen Schofield said that this year’s one would be “coming in longer than the last few” . Apparently, it’s longer by mere minutes. According to somebody who’s finished the game, it clocks in at just 5 hours.

in Advanced Warfare, you’ll take on the role of Jack Mitchell, a mercenary employed by the private military corporation Atlus. You’ll engage with Kevin Spacey, who heads up the company. And you’ll be doing so for just five hours. that’s according to a user on the COD Forums who spotted the credits scene posted on Twitter by a random human on the internet. Take it with a pinch of salt, but it smacks of validity – as it’s been accompanied by a screenshot of the game’s credits. Of course, said winner could have finished the game on its easiest setting, meaning players who want more of a challenge should expect a few more hours of popcorn entertainment. And frankly, I’m okay with that. I’ve always loved the COD campaigns for their mindless action , which provide me with a weekend of dumb shooting bliss.

Advanced Warfare credits

Of course, Call of Duty’s emphasis on single player has died down, and is now primarily a multiplayer game. On that note, here’s a list of the multiplayer maps you’ll be killing other people on.

  • Ascend
  • Bio Lab
  • Comeback
  • Defender
  • Detroit
  • Greenband
  • Horizon
  • Instinct
  • Recovery
  • Retreat
  • Riot
  • Solar
  • Terrace

In the same thread, it was revealed that Hardcore playlists will include the following modes:  Hardcore TDM, Hardcore Kill Confirmed, Hardcore Domination & Hardcore Search and Destroy, along with news of some of the game’s scorestreaks. Provided it’s a compelling and fun, balanced multiplayer experience, this is where Call of Duty Advanced Warfare’s longevity and value will lie.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is out on November 4.

He gets to chill, play games on his cell phone or create an exclusive book deal for next years best seller “OSCAR, MY LIFE” that will earn him 1million and vote at the next election.

Might even play a few rounds of golf with Clebi or Shiek if he feels up to it.

Well let’s be honest. 5hours on a corridor shooter is actually a lot. Any more and you’d start getting real bored real quick. Adding 2 hours or so for harder difficulties and I think you have a good balance.

Now if it was pure, deep story driven then maybe 5 hours is a let down. But CoD isn’t exactly

No surprise that yet another Call of Duty game is going to be 5 hours.
I just worry that when the gaming industry looks at the Call of Duty game and the amount of people buying that shit every year and playing it every single fucking day until the next Call of Duty shit is released. Short single player that hardly gets finished. Multiplayer all the time. Expensive DLC for like 2 maps.
And now more games are being released with half assed single player campaigns with no life in the story. Games are just turning into a online multiplayer.
Call of Duty one of the major reasons why this gaming industry has turned video games into shit.

The Witcher 3 100+ hours of single player. No multiplayer. No DRM.
    At least there is hope.

So retail DRM game for you and NON DRM retail blu ray movies. Why do I get this feeling it’s all about your experiences with internet and DRM. Get with the times. You act like that has been made available to you, that other people should just get with your times.

Get with the times. Telkom doesn’t install adsl lines into every home that wants a line. For the most part Telkom just says no. There are places all over the world where people want internet lines installed to their house but can’t get that option. Those are the times we live in.
So DRM like Steam, is only for a select group of people. Not for all.

I have cheap stable internet but I don’t act nor expect people who don’t have internet to just get with the times because in most cases it’s not a choice.

It’s not always just about you nor I. Sometimes it’s about other people. Never forget to have compassion for those in a worse off situation.

The Witcher 3 is coming and all those with a PC can buy and play the game without internet. That is progress. The times you live in with DRM, is in the segregated passed.

            Don’t support DRM.

            October 24, 2014 at 13:23

The other option to Telkom is Neotel and then there are plenty of mobile options. I got 2 ADSL lines into my place and a backup LTE router for the in case situation. There are always options to get internet and it is a choice. The excuse that “Telkom doesn’t install adsl lines so I can’t get internet” is old.

I do have compassion for those in a worse off situation but then if they are in a worse off situation, why are they spending money on gaming? I helped out a friend last year with financial problems, bank wanted to repossess his car. I paid the installment, the next week he went and bought Watch Dogs and BF4 for the PS4. Needless to say I cut him off.

Playing an SP game without DRM or internet is not progress. I played plenty of games in the 80’s when there was no internet. Gaming has progressed by incorporating online functionality, that is the future of gaming. Why do you think the biggest grossing games are all multiplayer games now? LoL? Dota2? CoD? That is the future of gaming. Your whole no online crusade is a mute topic and waste of time. Why do you think almost all of the new games coming out have it incorporated? Because majority of the gaming community is online.

          • Ryanza

            October 24, 2014 at 13:51

I said cheap and stable internet with low ping.
Worst off situation I was not talking about financial problems. We talking internet. People who has the money and who wants the cheap stable internet but just can’t get it.

Does Neotel and Telkom install internet lines to every house that wants lines in South Africa?

Why is multiplayer games doing well because people without internet has been cut off PC gaming.

Mobile internet lol. Browse the web. lol. Is LTE available to every single house in South Africa. Ok how about try and download that 20gig Halo update on mobile and see how much that will cost. Who is going to want to pay R3000 just to update Halo.

Blu Ray movies can be watched without internet. Online features was added to it. PC gaming you could play without internet with a feature to go online. Now PC gamers without internet has been cut off. So like a blu ray movie that only works if it’s connected to the internet.

Again you took yourself and expect everyone else to be where your internet is at.

Anyway. I can see the detachment in people who has gotten use to internet and retail DRM. Steam is fine as a DRM digital distribution. But Steam DRM should not be in Retail. Steam DRM and NO DRM retail can work. That’s how it should work. But people like you will never see it that way. DRM all the way. Internet users like to support Steam DRM but who doesn’t get their say in. Non internet users.

There plenty of people playing CoD on 3G connections with Top Up contracts. Last speed test a friend shared with me, his Vodacom 3G connection in East London was 14ms ping, 4.56MB download and 1.25MB upload. My MTN LTE connection has an average of 21ms ping, 48MB download and 10MB upload. So it’s not as bad as you think. And guess what, 20GB is available from Vodacom at R1000 (3 times less than you said). Do some research and see that is not as expensive as you think.

I’m pretty sure Neotel and Telkom are aiming to install lines in every house since that is their business whether its available now or in the future. I’ve ordered twice from Telkom to install lines. First at my old apartment which required a completely new line (it took 3 months) but it was done. The 2nd is at my house which already had a line and needed to be activated. It’s not that difficult to get a decent connection.

And the reason why gaming is doing so well is due to the internet and bringing in multiplayer functionality. Majority of gamers are online now and connected to the internet.

Your biggest gripe and problem is online gaming. You have commented on almost every article complaining about DRM and how terrible a game is or looks, yet again you have never even played them. That’s why I said yesterdays article was aimed at you.

The only thing I agree with you about is SP should not require online. That is pointless and unnecessary.

          • Ryanza

            October 24, 2014 at 14:40

Lol. You argue like mobile pings. Up and down.

Some games not much data is used and some people will use 3g connections. Near the costs mobile pings do get low and inland pings are high. Mobile pings and never constant nor stable, up and down all the time.

The R3000 price I used is most likely what a prepaid mobile customer would pay. Not the year contract price. Plus R1000 just to update Halo. lol.

Seems your comments are more directed at me. Trying to prove something. Low data using multiplayer, mobile, argument was to prove that DRM is a good idea. lol.

Cheap and stable internet. Telkom has no plans to bring adsl lines to all houses nor does Neotel. They have plans for expensive wireless internet to areas they won’t take lines.

If you agree that SP shouldn’t have DRM and we living in a DRM only PC market, that means that no more SP in the future.

I will always be the NO DRM voice on here. You can try to make fun or hate but that means nothing to me. I’ll just keep on trying to promote NO DRM. And The Witcher 3.

You make me laugh. I would really love to know where in SA you are that you can not get a decent internet? You almost make me think you are living close to the Botswana border in the Karoo.

The R1000 price by the way is the prepaid mobile price. And I am not knocking you for the NO DRM and The Witcher 3 voice. I say wave that flag and go on about it. But I am making comments about your negativity towards all other games whether it’s new or old IP. That’s exactly why the article from yesterday was aimed at you

You don’t get it. It’s not about me. It’s not about you. It’s about those many people across the world who don’t get access to cheap stable low ping internet. Those are the people I think about who can’t play PC games. Not me. Not you.

The Witcher 3 doesn’t only run on ultra spec PC’s. Low to medium graphics cards should result in a working Witcher 3 game. Average PC gamer sits with a medium to low spec graphics card.

At Gamescon the CD Projekt RED guys said that the game was running on a medium spec graphics card.

I wasn’t much of a gamer until recently, so I thought that I would try out Advanced Warfare. I didn’t know what to expect, but I thought that it would last me a few months, not a few days. When you beat the campaign, your character says that this is just the beginning. When he said that, I thought “Oh, now things are about to get real,” but then the credits started to roll and I just sat there, confused, hoping that I had only beaten a chapter of the game, but instead of allowing me to begin the next mission, it gives me the option to return to the main menu.

Gonna ignore the single player and just go straight into the mp. I never like the stories for these games anyhow….Easily drown hundreds of hours into that…
