Age of Empires 2 is still a thing

Remember long long before the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 4 were even a glimmer in their companies eyes the big game of the time was Age of Empires 2. We used to run around and stab elephants and things with our little stick men and it was a glorious occasion.

Well a few weeks back we were talking about how streaming is being added to Age of Empires 2 and then in our company chat we spoke about how slow and boring that game was and we laughed and laughed… well it appears we were idiots.

Age of Empires 2 is not only still around but it is actually thriving in the eSports and competitive gaming community. The little stick men have also recently been given a HD overhaul and the game still has a large and active backing.

Don’t believe me? Well take a look at this video that hit the internet yesterday talking about how far the game has come and the events that are still being held around it.

The HD edition is currently on sale at Steam for $9.99 and I’m actually really tempted to give it a try again.

Always a fun classic that can be put with StarCraft. 🙂

This is the last game my wife (then girlfriend) ever played / played with me over the network. We were a coalition (friends) against some vikings or other tribe, and we were doing so well together that we quickly overrun the enemy. With nothing much else to do – I secretly surrounded her castle and soldiers, ticked her as the enemy and chaos erupted – including her jumping up while screaming what a big a-hole I was. Little did I know that that would be her last gaming session ever – and yes, it was worth it.

And she still married you? I would have burned your empire to the ground every time until death…
