If I had to compile a list of some of the worst games released this year, Aliens: Colonial Marines would be at the top of that list. That game is just a terrible lie and a waste of time, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it killed off future titles based on that franchise. But in space, no one can hear you spin-off.
According to sources who spoke to Kotaku, a new Aliens is on the way. Called Alien: Isolation, it’ll be a next and current-gen title which is under development at Creative Assembly, the guys who happen to be behind the Total War series and also have the qualification of not being Gearbox or TimeGate.
The Kotaku source says that Creative Assembly is looking to games such as Dishonoured and Bioshock for inspiration, and that Isolation will have stealth and horror elements wrapped up in a first-person shooter.
The unlikely hero of this game? Amanda Ripley, daughter of Aliens franchise star Ellen Ripley and an untouched character in any of the expanded universe comics and books surrounding the films. Stuck on a space station, Amanda would face just one deadly Xenomorph for ‘most’ of the game, and would have to duke it out with soldiers and clones.
But most importantly, it seems that Sega has learnt their lesson after the whole Colonial Marines snafu. After the game bombed harder than an AvP sequel film, Sega held a meeting to make sure that their next game would not be so badly received. In fact, Isolation was meant to debut at E3 this year.
It’s a smart move by Sega. Gamers are still feeling the chest-stings after Colonial Marines, and the franchise is in desperate need of a shake-up that moves away from that gung-ho approach used in CM and the AvP games.
And this spin-off sounds perfect to me.

Latest one was a let down! The gotta go back to the first one and make things work better! like add more carnage, able to control claws and tail more, make every light able to go out and use the lighting in nice way make it really stand out! make blood like able to pour out and do cool things like hold your prey and if predator use them as bait!

I played CM… And it was SO not as advertised! I’m surprised no-one’s sued their a$$es in the US-of-A… But I have to admit that there were some parts where I did think to myself, “Self… This part is ok – as for the rest of it…”. And there-in lies the rub… It simply just felt incomplete… Unfinished… Like it’d been in development hell for over a decade and had been kicked out the door just to make a quick, nostalgic buck… I mean it was almost as if Gearbox had done this before… Oh wait…
Seriously though, this does sound like a shweet concept. I wait with anticipation for more info and some gameplay… But I’m sure most people will shy away from pre-orders this time – rather wait and see how it turns out on release day.

CA creating this? I hope they don’t get forced to release a pretty drab version of the game on release day only to patch the hell out of it post-release.
Having said that.. Rome II users received a free dlc pack for people who ordered the game before a certain date. A big we’re sorry? It’s just more playable factions. But I’ve also wanted to be a warlike Scythian. Why is this important? I think it shows they messed up and they’re doing something about it to get the community love back. The modding has helped as well.
So I have faith they could make something great. If given the chance (and time).

Would not say “Untouched character” as she is technically died 3 years before the Alien resurrection happened. All the space tech and cancer still kills people. then again she died at like the age of 60 so there is quite a bit of story to tell.

Before Alien. In the expanded edition of Aliens, Ripley asks about her daughter. They then proceed to tell her she died of old age. Ripley even has a picture of her.

Yes. I also saw the 3rd, although not as good as the 1st or 2nd (Resurrection is debatable ), it did have some tense moments. It worked for a 1 & 1/2 hour movie. They have to stretch this out over several more though so either it’s a lot of hide & seek with a peek-a-boo now & then or the xenomorph will be overpowered. Hence you fight some generic guns for between the alien bits. As for continuity, pretty much all of it went down the drain with Resurrection (not Prometheus, although it did make it worse).
