All of Gran Turismo Sport’s cars and tracks revealed

It’s one hell of a year for video game driving enthusiasts. Project Cars 2, Forza 7 – and soon, Gran Turismo Sport and Need For Speed Payback. To say that the anticipation for Gran Turismo is high would be an understatement. Where Turn 10 somehow manages to crank out Forza games at regular intervals, Polyphony Digital sure does take its time to release games. GT Sport will be the very first one to hit the new generation of PlayStations.

Polyphony has released all of the 162 vehicles that’ll be in the game. While that number seems low for a Gran Turismo, it’s worth noting that the game isn’t reusing the same assets for vehicles, as Polyphony’s done in the past to bring its vehicle count into the thousands. There are a few duplicates though, because the game is all about Sport racing, so there are different versions of the same car, even though not one of them is a Nissan Skyline.

The cars come in six different categories: Gr. N collates stock road cars; Gr. 4 is a collection of GT4-spec cars and equivalents, Gr. 3 features GT3-spec cars and equivalents; Gr. 1 is all about LMP1 cars and a few wild concepts; Gr. B is a bunch of rally cars; and Gr. X is entirely made up of fantasy machines.

In one way I am happy for this as it was disappointing to see the premium models next to the PS2 models.

In the other way I am a little sad, my brother and I used to do TopGear type races where he would try and do two laps of the Nürburgring in the fastest car he has in the time it takes for me to one lap in a 1974 Beetle.

That’s an impressive list of cars there, though I don’t know how it compares to the other racing games that are currently available.

No single player, always online (cough cough, “mostly always online”)? Mark Cerny should’ve used his secret sauce here to at least get the game native 4K/60 FPS, BUT it still does look very pretty tbh!
