American Software Charts a good indicator of the current status quo?

An un-named colleague (Nick) sent a tip over this morning about how Call of Duty 5 on the 360 is outselling the PS3 version by nearly 3:1. Apparently he is not impressed that I kept on sending him the flamebait tips and wanted to get some revenge. However I have been burnt enough recently so I am not going to mention the abysmal PS3 sales and rather concentrate on something a little more enlightening.

If you take a look at the latest sales chart coming out of the US you get to see a very obvious pattern. Out of the top 10 titles 50% of them belong to the Nintendo Wii, 40% to the Xbox 360 and only 10% to the PS3.

That 10% is purely COD5, what is even more disturbing for Sony is that if we take Wii Sports and Wii Play out of the equation (bundled games) we are left with the Wii having 3 titles in the top 10, the 360 having 6 and the PS3 still only having the 1.

However if we removed those two we may be able to spot LittleBigPlanet again which seems to have dropped out of the charts already. In fact LittleBigPlanet is yet to hit the million mark but I am sure the Christmas rush will push it over that mark… well less sure than I was previously but still sure.

At Take 2 the PS3 version of COD5 has sold 33% more than then Xbox 360 version even though the X360 version is on clearance sale for R65 less than the PS3 version.

Yes, but then again 360 owners also had the choice of GOW2 and L4D…

That’s pretty interesting actually since the 360 is a higher selling console locally…

    Ps3 owners had a choice between COD5 and mmmm, o R2
but R2 is only releasing now, where Xbox owners had COD5 , Gears2 and Left 4 Dead.

If a 360 fanboy wanted to list all the games that have come out for the 360 recently there would be a much longer list than that.

GOW2 and L4D are 2 games that are in a similar genre that are also triple A titles that were also out at the launch of COD5.
