Ivors-header

The Ivor Novello Awards or Ivors, have recently announced their nominations for the “Best Original Videogame Score”. The organization which is dedicated to honoring contributions made to British music has three possible candidates for the title, and while they might not be quite what you would expect, they pay tribute non the less to some of the unsung hero’s behind our beloved industry.

And the nominations are (in alphabetical order):

Enslaved: Odyssey to the west, Composed by Nitin Sawhney and published by Namco Bandai. While review scores seemed rather promising the game is reported to have performed rather poorly in terms of sales.

James Bond 007: Blood Stone, Composed by Richard Jaques and published by Activision in November last year.

And finally, Napoleon: Total War, Composed by Beddow, Birdsall and Livingstone and published by SEGA for PC on the 23rd of February this year.

Whether or not you really take notice of a the music in a game, you have to admit that its pretty damn awesome that game scores have become common place in awards such as these. If you are a fan of the above mentioned titles and are interested in the outcome, the Ivors award ceremony will take place on Thursday the 19th of May 2011, for up to date messages follow the Ivors on Twitter.
