Okay after posting the Yahoo video yesterday I decided to go on a little scouting trip to see if I could find a differing opinion. Basically a good opinion on why the PS3 can beat the 360 this holiday season.
I have found a few sites proclaiming that the PS3 will come first in this generation but unfortunately the stories are littered with sentences like
“The console has also taken gaming to new heights with some of the most advanced games in the market, both graphically and story wise†(PS3Addiction)
While that sounds great it doesn’t really have any backing. The PS3 is yet to show any of us that it can create better graphics than the Xbox 360.
What suprises me about all of this is that the PS3 has been selling very well and does have a decent chance of outselling the 360 this season… but none of the larger sites or analysts believes that it has a chance.
I can see why the PS3 fans often think their black box is picked on.

It’s not backed up with anything. Bioshock is arguably the most advanced game “story wise” or possible MGS4…
But neither the 360 nor the PS3 have independently taken gaming to new heights.

Storywise I’d say both consoles are on par. Graphics though, I’d say GT5:PL raised the bar there. Show me a Xbox or even PC game with graphics that good.

@Fudzy – I would agree that Lazygamer is a xbox fansite, not because of the visitors, mainly because of the negative bias towards PS3 in the articles.
Anyway, who the f*** cares which console is going to win this Christmas. All I know is that I’m going to be spoiled for choice come this Christmas: LBP, GOW2, Resistance 2 – need I say more…

And my question still stands: Who cares except for the shareholders and bosses @ Nintendo, MS and Sony?
So what if the 360 beats the PS3, or vice versa? Is it magically going to make that platform better?
Only thing I can see happening is that it will score the fanboys a couple of brag points.

I just have to comment on the statement above:
I do agree that the 360 has got overall better gfx, but I still have to see a 360 game top Uncharted. I haven’t seen MGS4 yet, but I believe the gfx are in a class of its own.

I have seen mgs4 and its cutscene in-engine graphics are truly incredible to say the least. @lazy – yes i know im supposed to be on holiday. im using my phone. i promise ill go build a sandcastle on the beach now or something… :S
