Are we getting a new BioShock already?

I was devastated when Ken Levine announced that he would be shutting down Irrational Studios. The development house has been behind some of the most iconic games of this generation, namely System Shock 2 and BioShock. With Levine leaving many believed that it was the end of the road for BioShock, with the second part of Burial at Sea wrapping things up quite nicely as well. For better, or worse, 2K isn’t ready to let that ship sail.

And hell, it hasn’t even been six months and the publisher is already teasing a new entry into the BioShock franchise. Yesterday 2K United Kingdom posted two very surprising tweets, with both suggesting a possible reveal of a new BioShock in the near future. Both tweets featured the same image, which makes a direct reference to an area in BioShock’s iconic underwater city, Rapture.

As any fan would now, Eve is a resource in the original BioShock game, as well as the sequel. Eve powered your Plasmids, which allowed you to do all sorts of things like shoot fire or electricity out of your hands, or even summon a swarm of bees to attack foes. Beeeeeeeeeeeeees.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about the possibility of another BioShock title. When Levine left, many questions regarding the future of the series were flying around. Levine made it clear that 2K owned the rights to the franchise and could possibly add to it. Seems like 2K is trading in their money in the bank sooner rather than later.

Will 2K be setting another title in Rapture? Or is the Eve reference just to get everyone on the same page? It’s definitely BioShock, but I’m both intrigued and frightened to see what 2K has planned.

I think it depends on who you ask.
One is Massive Online Battle Arena.

            July 25, 2014 at 08:46

But when they say “massive” they don’t mean massive as in 100s of players i.e. I thought something like DOTA2 and LOL have teams of roughly 4, 6?

            July 25, 2014 at 08:51

10 but I think one of the other things the M can stand for is Multiplayer.
The Massive is probably supposed to refer to the map size… I think?

I will not lie – I wish there was such a thing on console. The games look a lot of fun.

A close game or a dominating game are fun.
A dominated game is kak since you just want it to end but the other team is having too much fun to finish it.

Multiplayer online battle arena/ or Kensei’s answer. Whenever someone mentions MOBA I just ask, like that warcraft 3 mod?

I’d prefer a new location. Rapture & Columbia are complete. I have a vague memory of someone mumbling something about other cities while playing Bioshock Infinite.

Just get the Burial at Sea episodes, don’t worry about City in the Clouds – that’s just an arena shooter thingy.

My idea for a Bioshock sequel:
You start off getting onto a train at a train station (gasps of surprise echo through the crowd) after travelling for a bit while looking out the window you fall asleep.
A few seconds later you wake up to see that the sky has gone dark and night is falling (maybe include an epic sunset) and the train is shaking heavily.
You then notice that outside the window the ground is cracking and beginning to collapse.
The train then begins to falls through the ground into a massive underground cave and the train’s lights go out.
As the train compartment that you are in (it’s fallen onto it’s side) hangs suspended from the other compartments above the cave you look out the window and see a massive Incan/Mayan styled city lit in greens and blues off in the distance.
The lights in the train flicker on and you see a reflection of yourself (you’re playing as Elizabeth) and then the train compartment falls and just before it hits the ground and the screen goes dark.

I began this 8-months ago and immediately was bringing home at least $77 per hour. I work through this link, go? to tech tab for work detail
