Ashes Cricket 2013 delayed to November

What ho lads? Fancy a spot of cricket do you? Well bad news chaps, as the upcoming Ashes Cricket video game tie-in has been delayed. Again.

Developer 505 Games will now be releasing the game in time for the upcoming November sporting event, citing that the game simply wasn’t good enough yet.

Ashes Cricket 2013 publisher 505 Games has chosen to delay its sports sim for a second time until November, to coincide with the second Ashes series. “It is hugely disappointing that 505 Games has had to make this announcement today,” senior VP global brand & marketing for 505 Games said in the press statement which I just copied and pasted below instead of pretending that I asked him these actual questions and passed off as my own work;

We all had high hopes of bringing out a stellar cricket game during the first leg of this unprecedented Ashes year. But the fact of the matter is, we took a long hard look at the game as it stands and decided it simply wasn’t good enough in its current state. It was simply not worthy of the Ashes name.

Unforeseen issues which developer Trickstar faced in latter stages of development have meant that they have been unable to do the requisite amount of polishing and fine-tuning which any game needs. We owe it to ourselves, to our licensors, the ECB and Cricket Australia, but most of all to the dedicated cricket fans and gamers to put our best foot forward.

It is small compensation that we have the benefit of a second Ashes series in this unique cricketing year which affords us further time to work on the game and get it right for the return leg.

We are confident that the time between now and the second Ashes series will be enough to add the final polish we believe the game needs. We are committed, as we always have been, to releasing a great game and we are doing everything in our power to ensure this is the case.

Fair enough. I’m all for a game being delayed so that some extra polish can be thrown on top of it. And if that new release date just happens to coincide with a launch window that’ll no doubt get more copies, well I suppose everyone wins then.

Plus, there’s no way that my tinfoil hat is going to be considered safe enough for a quick game of cricket. Here’s a classic cricket advert to tide you over until the Ashes arrives.

    Good header, but Dawson is on the wrong side. You should have replaced Clarke instead of Cook. That would have been a great header

        TRANSLATION: Australia did bad, so the Aussie cpt should have had Dawson head.

        However in hindsight, I can’t imagine a more boring game, only 2 teams, both suck, one of the teams is Australia… I mean could the fail be any stronger?

        Why not find a pic of Dawson’s friend (Pacy??) and replace Clarke (translated into Darryn speak – the other guy you haven’t replaced yet) with him? Make him look like an idiot or crying even harder lol

    It is being delayed so that they can adjust the player stats for the “awesome world conquering Aussies” to the “crap as dog crap Aussies”. Seriously, their batting line-up is weaker than the wilting Protea ODI squad in Sri Lanka!!! Yes, I like watching sports.

    Another reason the game is delayed, is because of the (not yet well known) competition this game will receive from Australian rivals Big Ant. They will be releasing a far superior cricket game in a couple of months. There are threads in the Cricket Planet forum where tiny details of this game, Big Ant Cricket 14, is being shared.

    I’m not one to judge… cough.. but imagine you’re THAT guy, you know the oke, who has been waiting for Ashes Cricket 2013 all year, and then it gets delayed… My heavens, I can already picture the scene…

    A post office somewhere in South Africa… one disappointed employee, waving a bread knife, the epitome of someone who’s going postal…and all because of Ashes Cricket 2013…

    It could happen, you know!
